His Excellency Bishop Edwaldus Martinus Sedu ordained Fr. Agustinus Bria, RCJ, and Fr. Silvester Yohanes Kennedy, RCJ in the Parish of Saint John Mary Vianney Magepanda, Maumere, Indonesia, on August 28, 2024, Memorial Saint Augustine, Bishop and Doctor of the Church,
Through the rite of Priestly ordination, the two newly ordained priests, Fr. Gusti and Fr. Sil, are therefore officially added to the Rogationist Saint Matthew Province.
Surrounded by a good number of priests and lay faithful, Fr. Gusti and Sil prostrated in front of the altar and committed themselves totally to the Lord.
In his inspiring homily, Bishop Edwaldus highlighted the role of a priest as a man of God who has a specific mission to bring people to God and God to people.
This historical event was graced by a good number of the parishioners of Magepanda, close families, friends of the two new priests, and Rogationist priests of the Saint Matthew Province from different communities, religious brothers and sisters, and government officials.
Several speeches were delivered before the Holy Mass ended. Fr. Brizio Greco, RCJ, the General Treasurer of the Rogationists, as well as the representative of Fr. Bruno Rampazzo, RCJ, the Superior General of the Rogationists, expressed his deep appreciation to Bishop Ewaldus for showering grace of priesthood on the new priests. He also congratulated Fr. Gusti and Sil as well as the parents and family for willingly giving their sons to the Church and the congregation.
Fr. Orville Cajigal, RCJ, the Provincial Superior of the Rogationists of the Saint Matthew Province, welcomed Fr. Sil and Gusti as well as expressed his gratitude to the ordinandi. He also reminded everyone of the importance of prayer because it's through prayer that the vocation in the Church is made possible.
Fr. Henri Gualbertus simultaneously serves as the translator of Fr. Greco from Italian to Bahasa Indonesia as well as Fr. Orville from English to Bahasa Indonesia.
This whole celebration ended with a simple lunch and a very entertaining program rendered by the children and youth of the parish.
Once again, congratulations to Fr. Gusti and Fr. Sil.
