On May 9-10, 2024, Bishop Rolando Santos, D.D., the Bishop of Alotau-Sideia, along with Msgr. Federico Boni, the Secretary to the Papal Nuncio in Papua New Guinea, and some Missionary Sisters, visited the two parishes and communities of Sideia Mission Center. It was not an official visit, but rather a fraternal one aimed at establishing a deeper relationship with the missionaries, communities, and institutions associated with the mission.
During their visit to the various institutions, where they listened to stories, Bishop Santos and Msgr. Boni provided fatherly advice to those they met. The most important message conveyed was that the Church is there to support and guide the people in their faith journey.
Following their interactions with the people, they spent quality time bonding with the missionaries on the beach, enjoying the beauty of nature and delicious food. The Sideia Mission Center expressed gratitude for the visit, as it reinforced the idea that they are all working together to lead the people towards spiritual growth.
Overall, the visit of Bishop Santos and Msgr. Boni was a heartwarming experience that strengthened the sense of community and cooperation among all involved in the mission.
