Fr. John Lucas arrived at the Naga Central Terminal at 6am of April 30. He was fetched from there by Mr. Eliot Bellen, the brother of Fr. Jorem Bellen, and brought to their house in Salingogon (Minalabac, Camarines Sur) which was adjacent to the parish church.
The mass of the consecration and dedication of the church of Our Lady of Salvation (Salingogon, Minalabac, Camarines Sur), presided by Most Rev. Jose Rojas, Jr, Bishop of the Diocese of Libmanan, and concelebrated by five priests including Fr. Aldrin Adolfo, the parish priest, and Fr. John Lucas, started at 830am. In his homily, the Bishop thanked the Rogationists for giving a first class relic of St. Hannibal to be placed solemnly on the altar of the newly consecrated parish church Salingogon. Fr. John Lucas, in his message, also thanked the Bishop, the parish priest, and the faithful for welcoming the relic of St. Hannibal and solemnly placing it on their parish church altar. He said the relic is, firstly, a reminder that St. Hannibal is for all a fatherly companion and shining example along the journey towards holiness, especially manifested in the service to the young and the little ones, particularly the needy and abandoned. Secondly, the relic reminds everyone of the charism of the Rogate: obedience to the command of Jesus to pray for more workers in the Church, spreading the prayer, and becoming good laborers in the Church. In his closing remarks, Fr. Aldrin Adolfo shared the story of how Fr. Jobert Belgica and Fr. Jorem Bellen who both belong to the parish, were instrumental in the arrival of the relic of St. Hannibal at Our Lady of Salvation Parish.
A generous lunch was served for all after the liturgical celebration.
In the evening, the family of Fr. Jorem Bellen (brother, sister, mother) accompanied Fr. John Lucas to Naga City, where he took an 815pm bus for his return trip to Manila.
