May 1, 2025 – Daet, Camarines Norte | Within the Eucharistic Celebration of the Feast of St. Joseph, the Worker, Principal Patron of the Diocese of Daet, Most Rev. Herman Guinto Abcede, RCJ, was consecrated to the Order of Bishops. Archbishop Rex Andrew Alarcon, DD, the Archbishop of Caceres, served as the Principal Consecrator, while Archbishop Gilbert Garcera, DD of Lipa, and Bishop Jesse Mercado of Parañaque were co-consecrators. Archbishop Socrates Villegas, DD of Lingayen-Dagupan, delivered the homily.
Bishop Herman was also canonically installed as Daet’s 5th Diocesan Bishop in the Rite of Ordination.
Bishops, clerics, the consecrated, and lay faithful gathered at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity to witness the solemn event. The Rogate Family came in support and gratitude for the 2nd Filipino Bishop from St. Matthew Province. The charism of the Rogate became the atmosphere and emphasis of the day. The Lord of the Harvest does not disappoint, for he always hears the prayers of his people born from his command, ‘Rogate Ergo Dominum Messis.’ Bishop Herman is a work of God, sent to be His worker, and our co-worker in His vast harvest.
The night before, April 30, a Testimonial Dinner in honor of Bishop Herman was held in his hometown, Vinzons, Camarines Norte. Aside from the clergy of Daet and the Rogate Family, there were those who took part in shaping the bishop’s early years, which led to his entrance into the Rogationist religious life.
May St. Joseph, the Worker, constantly be the bishop’s guide as he embarks on taking the shepherding work in the Diocese of Daet.
