The Avignone Clinic of the Rogationist Seminary-Cebu conducted a medical-dental mission in Barangay Suba in Jao Island, Talibon, Bohol, Philippines, on February 1, 2025. Through the invitation of Fr. Ned Disu, CM, the medical-dental mission was organized. There were around four hundred patients who availed for the medical and dental services.
The Avignone Clinic volunteers, headed by Fr. Truong Thinh Nguyen, RCJ, and the 16 volunteers left the port of Cebu on January 31, 2025. Full with enthusiasm, the volunteers arrived at the Getafe port at 7:45 in the evening and were transported to Talibon, where they stayed for the night before they crossed to Jao Island at 7:00 in the morning. Despite the lack of sleep & with heavy equipment & supplies, all the volunteers were filled with energy & excitement as they approached the island.
Seeing all the people waiting for the services, without any minute wasted, the volunteers set up everything and started right away.
In spite of the little challenges, the last patient was served at around 7:00 PM. The doctors, medtech, nurse, and all the support volunteers have been deeply touched by the people they had served. The team left Jao Island on a dark night, but with a very tranquil sea, hopeful that they would reach their destination.
To show appreciation, Mr. John Black treated the team with a sumptuous dinner, and all the volunteers were given their certificate of appreciation after Sir John Black delivered his gratefulness to the team.
The medical-dental mission was indeed a great success because of the selfless service of the following volunteers: Bethjoven Pedrera, DMD, Ching Pedrera, DMD, Edwin Moises Castillo, DDS, Dorothy Cabadunga, MD, Eleanor Orosco, MD, Rosemarie Villarba, MD, Jerumae Lee, MD, Anna Marie Damonsong, MD, Merry Joyce Castillo, Jocelyn Abayon, Hazelynne Dayagbil, Ginalyn Dayagbil, Gerold Kyle Dayabil, Nezy Angeli Abayon, John Kendrik Abayon, Sem.
