September 21, 2024 (Silang Cavite) - On the Feast of St. Matthew, Apostle and Evangelist, the Rogationists - Saint Matthew Province, held a day-long event that also marked the culmination of the ‘Daop-palad’ Year. As the patron saint of the Province, St. Matthew’s feast was a significant occasion, bringing together the Family of the Rogate in prayer, reflection, and fellowship.
The day began with a Holy Mass presided over by Fr. John Lucas, RCJ, vicar provincial, at the Oasis House of Prayer around 10:00 in the morning. In his homily, he told everyone how the vocation of St. Matthew teaches us that when we hear the voice of God, it is then and there that we respond immediately. He reminded the Family of the Rogate to take on the responsibility for the challenges of the 50 years of the Rogationist’s presence, invoking the intercession of St. Matthew and Mary, Queen and Mother of the Rogate.
The confreres, FDZ sisters, and the different sectors of the Rogate gathered for lunch, enjoying a moment as one Family of the Rogate, as sons and daughters of Father Hannibal. A Pilgrim Rosary at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette was conducted around 2:00 in the afternoon. Following this, a conference delved into St. Hannibal’s devotion to Our Lady of La Salette, enriching our spiritual reflection of the day. Bro. Rolando Morales, MS, presented the historical background of La Salette, while Rev. John Dela Cruz, RCJ, elaborated on St. Hannibal’s devotion. The celebration concluded with simple snacks, leaving a sense of spiritual enlightenment and inspiration.
This event honored St. Matthew as the Province’s patron saint and brought the ‘Daop-palad’ Year to a close.
St. Hannibal Mary, pray for us! St. Matthew, pray for us! Our Lady of La Salette, pray for us! Send, O Lord, holy apostles into Your church!
