Last November 25, 2023, the Opening program, ‘Daop-Palad’, commenced with a conference and catechesis on the Triennium of Preparations and the Jubilee Celebrations. It was held in the auditorium of the Rogationist College- Paranaque. Fr. Jose Ariel Tecson, RCJ led the prayer and the seminarians from Father Hannibal Formation Center sung the Philippine National Anthem. Fr. Joel Ricafranca, RCJ delivered the Primer on the Triennium and Jubilee celebration. After the talk, questions, suggestions and interventions were entertained and answered by Fr. Joel and Fr. Jessie Martirizar, RCJ. Fr. Ricardo Pignatelli, one of the pioneers of the mission here in the Philippines recalled, through a recorded interview, how the beginnings of the mission happened 47 years ago. After all these, information and ruminations, Fr. Orville Cajigal, the Provincial Superior of the St. Matthew Province officially opened the Triennium of Preparations. Snacks were served afterwards. Present were a number of the members of the Rogate Family.
At 5:00 in the afternoon, Most Rev. Wilfredo Manlapaz, DD, Bishop-Emeritus of the Diocese of Tagum presided over the Eucharistic Celebration concelebrated by a number of Rogationists Priests. In his homily, Bishop Manlapaz fondly recalled his part in the beginnings of the mission here in the Philippines. He became a close friend of Fr. Diego Buscio, RCJ and prepared him by teaching the basics of Filipino language. He also exhorted us Rogationists to follow the footsteps of Saint Hannibal Mary for it is a sure path of following Christ the King, who served the poor and the needy. After the Mass, Fr. Ronaldo Paulino, RCJ, on behalf of the St. Matthew Province, thanked Bishop Manlapaz for gracing us with his presence in our Opening Celebrations.
After dinner, at the gym of Fr. Di Francia Center of Studies, the Rogate et Cantate Concert followed. The First Part was dedicated to the showing and awarding of the winning logos. Edmon Fuerte, a graphic designer from Baguio City won the first prize for the Logo para sa Jubileo. Since most of those who won the logo-making contest were out-of-town and cannot attend the celebration, some of those present ceremonially received their awards.
Six finalists for the Rogate et Cantate performed their song entries live for the audience. The religious students of Father Di Francia Center of Studies, the Rogationist Postulants and the seminarians from the Father Hannibal Formation Center performed also for an intermission.
