Solemn Dedication and Consecration of Saint Hannibal Church

Filled with joy and gratitude, we witnessed the Solemn Blessing and Consecration of the St. Hannibal Church in Dumalneg, Ilocos Norte. This momentous event stands as a testament to the persevering faith and tireless dedication of all those involved in bringing this magnificent edifice to fruition. Led by Most Rev. Renato Mayugba, D.D., in collaboration with the Clergy of the Diocese of Laoag and the Rogationist of the Heart of Jesus, this sacred celebration marks a significant milestone for the community of Dumalneg.

In his inspiring homily, Bishop Mayugba expressed his deep appreciation for the countless individuals who poured their hearts and souls into making this sacred place a reality. He reminded us of the importance of having a dedicated place of worship, where we can gather as one community and deepen our connection with God. The St. Hannibal Church now stands as a radiant beacon, constantly reminding us of our sacred duty to spread the Word of God to the people of Dumalneg and to pray together as one community.

Adding to the splendor of this joyous occasion, Bishop Mayugba also celebrates his Episcopal Anniversary as the Bishop of Laoag. This auspicious convergence of events fills our hearts with even greater gratitude and elation, underscoring the significance of our calling and the responsibilities entrusted to us.

As the Mass drew to a close, Frs. Orville and Fr. John took a moment to express their sincerest gratitude to all those who played a pivotal role in the success of this noble project, particularly the diocese and the people of Dumalneg. They also acknowledged the efforts of the RCJ priests assigned for this project, especially Fr. Silvestre Robinol, Fr. Paulo Sambile, Fr. John Lucas and Fr. Henry Ramos, RCJ.

Looking ahead, Bishop Mayugba revealed his plans to return to the St. Hannibal Church on June 1, 2024, the feast day of St. Hannibal Mary Di Francia, to elevate it from a Missionary church to a Quasi-Parish church. This visionary endeavor holds immense promise for both the St. Hannibal Church and the community it serves, symbolizing a future brimming with renewed faith and prosperity.

Our heartfelt thanks to all who graced us with their presence during this solemn celebration. May this new St. Hannibal Church continue to stir our spirits, inspiring and guiding us on our collective mission to spread the boundless love and teachings of God especially to the least, the lost and the last. And that in all things, God may be glorified!
